The local PBS station is maintaining a Google Map with the latest fire information and borders and advisories. It's pretty cool.

They also have a Twitter site with lots of frequent information updates:

The ability for any user to make their own Google Map with updateable information and embedded HTML (and therefore embedded pictures and video) is pretty damn cool. My dad recently took a walk around Del Mar, and I went and made a Google Map that tracked out the path, which also automatically calculated the distance walked. I could then share that specific map with the people who took the walk. Pretty cool.
Not a lot of news from here. Apparently the wind is blowing from the coast, which is good, and apparently has kept my parents and Diana's parents houses safe. Del Mar has had its evacuation orders lifted, which is great news. Now as long as the Witch Fire doesn't blow west over to our house, we (at least) will be in pretty good shape.
It's a sad day, though. Lots of people have lost a lot of property. Over 500,000 homes have been evacuated. Crazy.
