San Diego burns...
Holy shit, it's bad news bears around here. Diana and I woke and could smell smoke from fires way far away. During the morning, we could see little bits of ash falling from the sky. The fire is pretty far south of here, but another little bit of it is easy of us, and potentially heading our way.
This is scary.
I think the chances are pretty slim, but they've talked a lot on the news about people having to leave their houses at the last minute. We figured better to be safe than sorry, and decided to pack up some non-replaceables.
That's a weird thing to do: actually walk around and decide what you could and could not live without. We grabbed wedding pictures, of course. A change of clothes. Diana packed up all her teaching lessons from all the years past. I grabbed a Shakespeare book that was my great-great-grandfathers, as well as a little trophy my grandfather won when he was a boy. That's about it. It's weird to think that we have a lot of stuff, but nothing that we couldn't replace or live without, if it really came down to it.
I hope and doubt the fire will come our way, but even the thought that it could is pretty chilling.
In other news, we bought a bed this weekend. It's NIIIIICE.
That is all, for now.
