Busy weekend!

Let's see here. Lots to talk about.

Friday night, me and D and Iwan headed over to Baditudes house for a rousing game of "Civilization: The Board Game". The four of us were joined by Eryn's work-boy Dig-Dug, so we had a pretty full posse for the game. The game itself was a whole lot of fun. The basic idea is you start out with a city and settler, and work on expanding your little civilization. There are lots of neat aspects of the game, not the least of which is multiple ways to win (including world domination (a la Risk)), or technological superiority, and otherwise. Winning was hardly a problem, though, as the game advances through 4 different eras, and we made it through 1 in about 4 hours of play. Granted, it was a learning game that went pretty slow at the start, and apparently the other eras go faster. I hope we can get together a full day game, though, as I think that would be a lot of fun.

Saturday morning, Diana did some tutin' while I did some odd chores. We then packed up a lunch and headed down to the beach and watched the pups run and play. It was a nice day, and I was once again reminded of how infrequently I go to the beach, and how I'd like to go more. We then headed to the mall and I picked up the new "Prince of Persia" game (thanks Smartin for the gift certificate!). Diana had a gift card as well, so we made out like bandits!

I played some PoP that night. The controls were pretty frustrating at first. You play the game from an over-the-shoulder point of view (a la Tomb Raider). The camera is semi-automated, as well as controlled by the mouse, so I spent a lot of time fighting with the computer for control. Once I figured out that this was a pretty typical console-type game, I just let the camera go on it's own, and just adjust it as needed. Much better.

Saturday night, Diana and I watched (one of our copies of) "Amelie". Cute movie! I liked it the first time I saw it, and I think even more the second.

Sunday, Diana had more tutin' to do in the morning. My dad came over, and we worked on replacing the faucet fixtures in the guest bathroom. It was a lot more work than I anticipated, mostly because of the decrepit state of the faucets that were in there now. The metal was completely corroded, and things that were supposed to unscrew from each other were basically cemented together. It took a lot of WD-40 and strength and teamwork, but we finally got all the old stuff out and installed the new bits. I had to make a quick trip to Home Depot to get some supplies, but by the end of the evening, water was flowing with nary a leak! Not too shabby. My dad came supplied with a wealth of tools and knowledge, which made the job a lot easier and more fun. I even heard him say the 'f' word for the very first time in my life! Very exciting.

My dad brought with him some tapes from the Time-Life collection of the original Muppet show, and we watched two episodes of that that evening. It was a lot of fun, and brought back many happy memories. Then a little jacuzzin', and bedtime!

All in all, a nice, full weekend.
