Ok... so if you're going to be hip to pop culture, you need to know about Ellen Feiss. She's the girl on the Mac "switch"

She's the girl in the Apple "switch" commercials, where real people talk about why they switched from a PC to a Mac. She somehow rose to goddess status, either because people think she a) is cute and/or b) was stoned while filming the commercial. She's been contacted by both Leno and Letterman to be on their shows, and she turned them both down. They had a look-alike contest in Holland. There are mugs and T-shirts with her picture on them. It's really weird.

If anyone can tell me why she's so popular, I'm all ears. Also, if someone can tell me how to predict this kind of media explosion, let me know. It's so weird how things that are marketed to be popular sometimes are, but crazy little fad things can acheive crazy-popular status overnight.
