Birthday Party, etc

We had a small birthday party for Allison on Saturday, held a couple weeks after her actual birthday so that my parents could come.  When first thinking about a party, I thought of all the people I'd like to invite, including all of Allison's friends, all my friends with kids, and might as well invite my other friends without kids, as well as Diana's friends, etc.  That number quickly spiraled out of control, so we just limited it to a few of her daycare friends and grandparents.  We met at Moonlight beach and park and had a great time.  Allison loves playing in the shallow waves, and running back and forth with the tide.  I have a pretty strict "no screaming inside" policy, but outside, it's fun to watch her scream and giggle and frolic.

Guests:  Saxon/Caden/Kristen/Chris, Lilly/Anna, Shane/Max/Jamie/Patrick, Shawna/Chris and their daughter, whose name is not Kyla but something close, as well as all four grandparents.

The days preceding the party were cold and cloudy.  The day of the party was sunny and beautiful.  The days following the party were cold and cloudy.  Not only that, but in the big parking lot at the beach, they were doing some sort of emergency vehicle demonstration, so they had a police helicopter come and land, as well as an ambulance and fire engine with its huge ladder up in the air, and stuff like that.  Really lucky.  All in all, it was a very nice morning.

She continues to be diaper-less overnight, which is still a little spotty (pun somewhat intended).  Maybe a third of the nights we're getting woken up between 2:30am and 5:30am to change some sheets.  The 5:30am is a little brutal, 'cause it's early, but too late to really go back to sleep.  I've been staying up late and waking her up to go pee at around 11pm or 11:30pm, and I think that helps.  I've also caught her on the wrong side of some sort of sleep cycle and she pitched an absolute fit at being dragged out of bed and thrust on the toilet.

At least one intrepid blog reader read a little too much into my "have I changed my last diaper?" comment from my last post.  That should have read "Have I changed Allison's last diaper?"  Whether Allison's last diaper is also my last diaper is still an open question.

Not a whole lot of other news to share.  Work is going well.  Diana is really busy at school.  I'm working on a game with the goal of submitting it to the Xbox Live Indie Game section.  Not sure if that will actually happen, but I have a good start and a good head of steam going.  Basketball on Tuesday nights and Survivor on Wednesday nights are special mid-week treats.  This Saturday we're taking Allison to the Disney on Ice show.  She saw another version of the show a year ago and loved it, so I hope she likes this one, too.
