When I was a wee lad, I went to a summercamp. It was at this summercamp that there was a counselor who had the nickname of "Wheels". I didn't really know him, but I did know that I thought that "Wheels" was pretty much the coolest nickname ever, and I've secretly coveted it since then. Tonight, at softball, someone on their own accord called me "Wheels". Yay! (In college, on my flag football team, I was called "Flash", which is equally good).

In other news, I watched some of The Contender tonight, seeing as some friends have raved about it. I saw the second half, which I guess involves two contestants getting paired up to fight. Then there was a lot of them talking about the fight, and getting ready for the fight, and an inordinate amount of praying. Seriously, both guys were all fired up on praying, not only for safety and protection, but to guide them to victory. By the time the fight actually DID roll around, I was all sorts of fired up to see which guy God picked! Turned out to be the Puerto Rican.

Speaking of watching, I saw "Schindler's List" for the first time this weekend. Diana and I Netflixed it. I remember when it first came out, the common saying was "It's depressing and sad, but you *have* to see it." For whatever reason, I didn't really take kindly to this, so much so that I really kind of avoided it. I thought it was pretty good. My suspension of disbelief was broken by just how vicious the Nazi's were (which is sort of funny, as I don't doubt they were portrayed accurately, and that THAT kind of cruelty seemed unbelievable to me). Particularly when they were rounding up the children. If rounding up children for the slaughter isn't some sort of archtypal symbol, I don't know what's what.

We also saw "The Spanish Prisoner". The first DVD was received broken, so we had to send it back and get another copy. It came highly reccomended from Iwan, but reviews were decidedly mixed on our end. Diana didn't really like it at all. ("I can see why the first DVD was broken!" I think was her exact quote). I was distracted by the really oddly unnatural dialogue and relatively sub-par acting, but otherwise found the story mildly engaging. I really liked "The Game", and this seemed to be in a similiar vein, but just didn't have It.

And finally, I got a surprise email from my old college roomate, who was really one of my only friends up there. It was good to hear from him. Huzzah.

That's all I got... out.
