Randomness.

We're heading out of town for Thanksgiving week, which I'm looking forward to. We're going up to Portland and Seattle to visit some friends and family. It's always nice to take a break and get away for a while. Especially for Diana, who's really been super busy recently. We're going to be up in Discostup's neck of the woods on Thanksgiving day, which will be fun. I hope he doesn't think he's responsible for entertaining us or anything. We don't have any big plans or expectations!

This week at work has been pretty quiet for me. We had our big Go-Live weekend last weekend, and it went really well. I've reserved a lot of free time this week to fix issues as they come up, but so far, I've been pretty free. It's nice to have some breathing room.

My brother and I played a little chess via Yahoo yesterday evening. I still get warm fuzzy feelings when the Internet just works, and allows me to do things like play a game of chess with my brother thousands of miles away. Good stuff. I won the game, but he wasn't a pushover. I anticipate some good games in our future.

I sat Diana down in front of Half Life 2 last night to see what would happen. Didn’t really seem to stick. My occasional forays into coaxing Diana into the world of computer games have rarely been successful. It interesting to me to observe a non-gamer play a game. Standard tasks, like traversing my through a level, or moving a box and jumping on it to jump to a higher place are so second nature to me that I forget how tricky (and frustrating) they can be for someone new. She managed her way ok, but I doubt I'll come home to find her playing this evening.

The World of Warcraft beta is ending today, and the game comes out in a week. It's going to be a huge release, I'm sure. I'm definitely looking forward to it coming out and playing more. Good stuff. I have about a dozen friends and friends-of-friends playing, which is fun.

And that's about the size of things for now.
