Ferris Beuller style...

Sick days at work are use-'em-or-lose-'em. It's also not frowned upon to take "mental sick days", which is using a sick day just to take a day off and relax. That said, I've taken the day off!

I'm in my comfies. I just made some apple cider, added in a little vanilla, then feeling crazy, added in half a cap of vanilla vodka. Good stuff. It's cold and rainy outside.

I've spent most of the day working on programming. Norm and I have done a few tests of our game over the network, and it only showed a glimmer of success in an otherwise sea of failure. I've redone the networking bit, and it works well on my own machine. Hopefully it will work a bit better online.

I've spent a bit of the day pouring over Fantasy Football information. My team did quite well this week, which was reassuring, especially given some previous performances.

I played some chess online. I played a guy rated about 100 points below me in a 5 minute game, and he kicked my ass. We played again, and again, he really steamrolled over me. He then told me not to worry, he was just better than me. I thought this was sort of rude. He revealed after a few games (my rating spiraling down the toilet) that he's actually a high-ranked player, and just created a low-ranked player for fun, because he was bored. I let him know that, from my point of view, this was a little discouraging. He offered to artificially inflate my rating (presumeably by starting games and resigning to me), but I declined. That guy must have been pretty damn bored.

Speaking of which, I have some chess games on my desktop, which I may as well upload: Game 1
Game 2
Game 3
