Well, since I'm old and, under advice of lots of people whose opinions I really value, retired from contact sports, I'm looking for new competitive, non-contact activities.
I just signed up in the Cyberathlete Amateur League (http://www.caleague.com). This is an offshoot of the CPL (sub "Professional" for "Amateur"). Basically, it's an organized set of leagues (open, intermediate, invite, and draft) in a number of online games (including CounterStrike). Keep an eye open for "True Life: I'm a Cyberathlete" coming in March to MTV (I'm not kidding. :)
So now I'm just looking for a team to join. Sort of reminds me of my old Quake3 boys... as silly as it sounds, showing up for an official match was just as nerve-wracking and full of anticipation as a real sporting event. So, hopefully I can find a team, as new seasons are about to begin. :)
I'm also thinking about bowling. If I put my mind to it, I think I could be a pretty good bowler. We'll see.
