Ping pong is an Olympic sport.
That's just weird to me. I mean... ping pong?
I just watched some Fencing. I did some fencing in college, but I still had no idea what was going on. One thing that bothers me about fencing is that there appears to be a lot of influencing the judges. In some point, both fencers will hit each other, and immediately cheer and raise their arms and "celebrate" as if they scored the point. But it's all bunk, since they do so while looking at the judges, and waiting to hear who ACTUALLY scored the point. Pretty analogous to to taking a dive in soccer, I suppose.
In other news, we're back in our house, in spite of our kitchen not being 100% complete. Even though the finishing touches aren't there yet, it still looks awesome. We're both really happy with how things turned out. Pictures will follow when it's all put together.
More and more people are adding me as a friend on Facebook. I figure it's easier to not fight it and just open the floodgates. *sigh*

Clench! Clench the floodgates!
I thought fencing was scored electronically somehow? (Like swimming with the panel at the wall, the suit recognizes when it is poked)
All sports, it seems, have some human judgment factor in it, but the olympics have a lot of sports relying entirely on judges.
Touches are recorded electronically, yes... but apparently two touches happening simultaneously (which happens very frequently) still need to be judged as to who had the "right" to attack.
Weird. "Right" to attack... sounds like good grounds for controversy!
