So, I've got some time for a little update.
Life is continuing to go pretty well. Diana is doing absolutely great. Her belly is getting bigger, while the rest of her remains radiant and beautiful as usual. Kicks are very common, and we can actually see little thumps and movements, which is totally weird. Many evenings are spent on the couch, watching TV or a movie, with our hands on her belly. It's quite exciting. There's quite a bit of drama to see if her belly button is going to pop out or pinch closed. I'm kinda voting for the latter, but either way is fine with me.
Nest mode is pretty much in full swing. We had a weekend a few weeks ago that entailed two trips to Baby's R Us in two days. That was exciting. We've bought some nice furniture (crib, dresser, storage bins, etc) and have done some real room shifting. My old office is now the nursery. The blue walls remain (which will probably turn into clouds or ocean), and the white furniture looks pretty good in there. My office has moved to the guest room, with my new hotrod computer and all the junk in the closets. There's been a lot of shifting things around, and I think it's worked out pretty nicely.
We went and saw "Knocked Up" yesterday afternoon, and I thought it was pretty good. There's a huge amount of juvenile humor, as well as some funny and touching relationship stuff. I'm not embarassed to admit that I welled up after the baby was born, which really made me wonder how I'm going to react to my own child being born. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be a complete wreck. Full water works. So, get ready for that.
Speaking of waterworks, at some point recently I saw a hockey game on TV. I figured out that it was one of the NHL Stanley Cup games, and thought I'd like to watch the rest of the series. Turns out the rest of the series was exactly one more game. The game was really exciting, in spite of not cheering for a particular team. And true to form, after the game I got all choked up. Something about all the man-love at one side of the rink while the losers have to wait to shake hands. Ugh, I'm such a baby. :)
In other news, I'm a little stressed out with my computer situation. The new hardware is all AWESOME. However, I didn't get a new hard drive, I just swapped in my old one. I've been doing regular backups, which is a good thing, but I've noticed that I get "bad sector" errors during the backup. Searching for "bad sectors" on Google uniformly brings up pages that say "back up your data immediately, hard drive failure is imminent!"
Luckily, I've been doing backups, so I'm not totally worried. However, I just tried restoring from my backup to a fresh drive, and it doesn't seem to work. I'm pretty sure all my data is intact, but it's a little unnerving to be working with a hard drive that might die at any second, and to be unsure if your backup is 100% reliable. So I've spent the afternoon burning savable data (pictures, mp3s, other important bits) to DVD.
